Breads

Fresh baked bread dripping with hot butter goes perfectly with so very many dishes. Great with a meal or as a snack. If you are looking for recipes, tips, and ideas for bread or buns you may find what you are looking for here. These recipes are my favourites.

Homemade Cinnamon Buns from Scratch:
Growing up on in a rural community most everything that appeared in our kitchen was made from the most basic of ingredients. That tradition has stayed with me so you won't see one of my recipes calling for refrigerated dough within it. My bread recipes start from scratch.

Potato Buns Crescent Style:
This recipe has a delightful twist to it; the dough can be refrigerated after it is made so you can have fresh baked rolls each night with a fraction of the work it would otherwise take. Divide the dough into 4 quarters and bake 1/4 each night. The added potato in these buns provides a very nice flavor boost over tradition crescent rolls.

Baking Powder Tea Biscuit:
In England they would be referred to as a scone but here in the west we tend to call them tea biscuits. Traditionally served with high tea these scone like biscuits taste great with butter and jam or when served alongside soup or stew. This is a quick bread recipe that has quite a few different ways to add in extra flavour.

Banana Nut Loaf:
Another quick bread recipe but this one is so very special. It is my moms recipe and whenever I bake it I swear that I am wafted back into my childhood home. The aroma in the kitchen is heaven. The fruit and nut in this loaf also serve to make this bread a deliciously nutritious treat for any time of the day. It is wonderful served with a meal, as a dessert, or as a snack and packs a powerfully healthy punch.
