For a quick nutritious meal this simple salmon patty recipe is ideal. Made using a can of salmon, eggs, and a few chopped vegetables these salmon cake patties are absolutely delicious.
Rich in healthy omega 3 fats this popular sport fish is virtually always a healthy meal choice. Salmon is a heart smart food. Delicious and nutritious salmon can be prepared in a number of ways but this quick and easy patty recipe is one of our favourites.
Ingredients
1 large can of salmon (mine is 418 g)
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped celery or green pepper
2 eggs
Salt and pepper to taste
Small amount of olive oil
1. In a large bowl mix together your can salmon, eggs, and chopped vegetable.
2. Put your olive oil into a frying pan and heat pan over a medium low heat. (You can also use butter if this is your preference).
3. Form your salmon patties just as you would a hamburger patty. Lay them in your frying pan and cover to cook. (A lower cooking heat will insure that the patty cooks without too much sticking.)
4. After 8 to 10 minutes cooking time check to see if bottom of patty is golden in color. Flip your salmon patties so they can cook on the other side and cook for about another 5 minutes or until golden.
You can use your choice of green or red pepper, onion, or celery in your salmon patties. Begin by chopping your vegetables.
In a large bowl stir together your can salmon and eggs.
Combine your chopped vegetables into your salmon patty mixture. Salmon in a can is ready to eat so this fish dish only needs to cook long enough to sere the vegetables and crisp the meat.
Form your salmon into patties just as you would do to make a hamburger. Lay in a heated olive oil coated pan. (Low Heat)
Cover to cook. Flip your salmon patties in about 10 to 15 minutes or when the bottoms are golden.
Cook the other side of your salmon patties for about another 10 minutes.
Season your salmon patties with salt, pepper, and lemon.
